Se si tratta di una cosa che il locutore non precisa, si usa l'articolo indeterminativo.

In questo caso ha incontrato un amico qualsiasi: non abbiamo informazioni più precise su questo amico.

In questo esempio non si trova con un amico qualsiasi, ma con un amico ben definito.
