21.3.2 Congiunzioni che introducono una spiegazione


Appartengono a questo gruppo le congiunzioni because, as, since. La più utilizzata è because, as e since hanno lo stesso valore semantico.

21.3.2.1 as, because, since = come, perchè
As we didn't know the way to the theatre, we had to ask the old lady.
Poichè non conosciamo il cammino, dovremmo domandare alla signora.  
He started the meeting at 8 o'clock, because he knew that it would take more than 3 hours.
Cominciò la riunione alle otto, perchè sapeva che sarebbe durata tre ore.  
The group would have to give up, since they had not enough provisions.
Il gruppo avrebbe dovuto abbandonare, perchè non avevano abbastanza cibo.
